Estonian Historical Fencing Association presents: Professional Fights of Medieval Fighting Iron League

5. septembril toimus Viikingite Külas täiskontaktse keskaegse võitluse turniir Saula 2015. Turniiri kavas olid võitlused kategoorias HMB buhurt 5vs5, HMB buhurt 3vs3 ning duell kilbi ja mõõgaga. Turniiril osalesid Eesti rahvusmeeskonna võitlejad ning külalised Soomest ja Prantsusmaalt. Kokku osales 14 võitlejat.

Saula 2015 – Full Contact Medieval Fighting Tournament
On September 5, a full contact medieval fighting tournament “Saula 2015” was held in the Viking Village, Estonia, hosting 14 fighters from Estonia, Finland and France. The tournament was organized by the Estonian Historical Fencing Association and Viking Village. The event was marshaled by Raivo Ird, an internationally HMBIA-certified marshal.

In the HMB buhurt 5vs5 category, the team Visitors (Est/Fin/Fra) met the team Estonia-1 (Karu Klubi, Turm). The team Estonia-1 also represented Estonia in the IMCF World Championships held in Malbork and in Battle of the Nations held in Prague this year. The match was won by the team Visitors with the final score of 2:0.

Three teams participated in the HMB buhurt 3vs3 category, with each of them amassing a single victory. As such, the final winner was determined by the largest number of round victories and score points. The winner in the 3vs3 category was FinFra. Karu Klubi (Narva) took the second place, while the joint-team of clubs Turm (Tartu) and Soldknechte (Tallinn) came third.

The winner in the duel with sword and shield category was Jaan Murumets aka Barbar from club Turm (Tartu). Maksim Sidnev aka Skeggolf from club Valhalla (Tallinn) took the second place. Jaan Murumets also represented Estonia in the the IMCF World Championships held in Malbork this year, where he won a bronze medal in the same category.
On 25 June, an Iron League match was held in Tartu between Jaan Murumets a.k.a. Barbar (Turm, Tartu) and Artur Kreivald a.k.a. Svein (Soldknechte, Tallinn). The winner of the match was Svein, with the final score of 33:28. Svein is currently leading both the overall Iron League rating table, as well as the 2015 seasonal one, not having lost a single Iron League match.

Team Estonia in IMCF World Championships 2015
2015 IMCF World Championships held in Malbork during the month of May was the first time for Estonians to participate in the IMCF tournament. The team was very pleased with the rules governing the fighting, as well as the organization of the event.

Estonian fighter Jaan Murumets won the bronze medal
Estonian fighter Jaan Murumets a.k.a. Barbar (club Turm, Tartu) won the bronze medal in the sword and shield category in Malbork. Murumets defeated fighters from Ireland, South Africa, Lithuania and Austria, losing only to England (Lukasz Kowal, silver) and Poland (Marcin Waszkielis, gold). The sword and shield category had competiors from 24 countries.

Team ESTONIA-1 participated in Malbork with restricted composition because some fighters decided to join the team a week later in the Battle of the Nation.

28. märtsil toimusid Viljandi Lennukitehases esimesed avatud Eesti Meistrivõistlused Keskaegses Võitluses. Kategoorias HMB Duell 1vs1 võitis esikoha Läti rahvusmeeskonna kapten Vladimir Maksimenko ehk Hartman (Lübeck, Riia), teiseks tuli Jaan Murumets ehk Barbar (Turm, Tartu), kolmandaks Dmitriy Larionov (Soldknechte, Tallinn). Kategoorias HMB Buhurt 5vs5 võitis esikoha meeskond Lübeck (Läti+Iisrael), teiseks tuli meeskond Sõdalaste Koda (Eesti) ja kolmandaks meeskond Nordburg (Eesti).
On 27 June 2015, during the X Pärnu Hanseatic Days Knight Tournament, Daniil Larsen a.k.a. Lars (Karu klubi, Narva) defeated Jaan Murumets a.k.a. Barbar in an Iron League profight match with the final score of 47:30. Murumets was the Iron League profight champion in the season of 2014. In the second Iron League profight match, Artur Kreivald a.k.a. Svein (Soldknechte, Tallinn), the runner up in the previous season of Iron League, defeated Ilja Sinkievitš (Karu Klubi, Narva) with a technical knockout.

The winner in the duel with sword and shield category was Toomas Kalja (Turm, Tartu). Aleksei Sosnovski (Valhalla, Tallinn) took the second place, while Maksim Sidnev a.k.a. Skeggolf (Valhalla, Tallinn) came in third.

In the buhurt 3vs3 category, team Karu Klubi (Narva) met team Sõdalaste Koda (Soldknechte, Turm, Rampant Unicorns HMB). The match was won by Karu Klubi with the final score of 2:0.

The championship in Pärnu hosted 15 fighters from Estonia and Scotland. The participating clubs were Karu Klubi (Narva), Rampant Unicorns HMB (Edinburgh), Soldknechte (Tallinn), Turm (Tartu) and Valhalla (Tallinn).
On 28 March 2015, the Estonian Historical Fencing Association organized the first open Estonian Medieval Fighting Championship, which was held in Viljandi. The championship hosted 28 fighters from Estonia, Latvia and Israel.

Based on the championship results, the 2015 Estonian National Team was formed. Buhurt 5vs5 team Sõdalaste Koda (clubs Karu Klubi, Turm, Soldknechte, captain Ivan Gremov) became Team ESTONIA 1 and Buhurt 5vs5 team Nordburg (club Nordburg, captain Nikolai Bõkov) became Team ESTONIA 2. Duellist Jaan Murumets became Estonia’s Fighter no.1 in the Duel 1vs1 category.

Meistrivõistlustel osales osales 28 võitlejat Eestist, Lätist ja Iisraelist. Esindatud olid klubid Karu Klubi (Narva), Lübeck (Läti), M.F.C. (Iisrael), Nordburg (Tallinn), Soldknechte (Tallinn), Turm (Tartu) ja Valhalla (Tallinn). Turniiri peakohtunikuks oli Grigori Jurtšak Lätist. Ürituse korraldasid MTÜ Eesti Ajaloolise Mõõgavõitluse Liit, MTÜ Ajarändurid ja Historical Medieval Battle International Association.
Meistrivõistluste tulemuste põhjal pannakse kokku tänavune rahvusmeeskond, kes sõidab Eestit esindama täiskontaktse keskaegse võitluse maailmameistrivõistlustele ehk Rahvaste Lahingule (Battle of the Nations), mis toimub 7.-10. maini Prahas. Õhtul toimunud hääletusel sai meistrivõistlustel osalenud võitlejate poolt käesoleva aasta Eesti rahvusmeeskonna kapteniks valitud Ivan Gremov (Karu Klubi, Narva).
